The “Wild Arms” Trophy, awarded for Spinning while firing the Gatling Gun in Deep Dataspace level of SSD Speedway, is a reference to 1996’s Wild ARMs on the PS1, developed by Media Vision. Wild ARMs is a Japanese role-playing game, and received a remake on the PS2 in 2003. The “Twisting Metal” Trophy, awarded for jumping three times whilst Spinning on ice, is a reference to 1995’s Twisted Metal for the PS1, developed by SingleTrac. A vehicular combat game, this is the origin of the evil clown Sweet Tooth, who drives the ice cream truck featured on the game’s cover. The “Project Neo” Trophy is a reference to the codename of the PS4 Pro.
They will only appear after you’ve unlocked and completed 1994 Throwback. Such as Astro’s feet grating against the ice while he skates, the wind blowing in Memory Meadows or the coin collection sound effect. Throw the cannister with the net inside at the blue aura when the lock-on symbol appears to reveal the Special Bot. Go under the bridge and immediately on your right pull the exposed cable cords to grab a throwable canister with a net inside. Punch the shell to reveal a steering wheel, then stand in front of it push the Options button to bring up the map. Go to the far right corner of the beach, next to the building, on the opposite side of where the Gran Turismo Astro Bot is. Proceed through the stage as normal until you reach the first dynamite enemy.

Artifact 2/2 “PlayStation Mouse” – In the section where you are meant to jump across the clouds, instead of going towards the checkpoint you should jump onto the cliff ledges which lead higher up. From there you can climb up to the top section on the right to find this artifact. Puzzle Piece 2/4– In the area with the first blowing cloud, run against the wind to grab this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – When you exit the caves and are out of the ship, drop down to the lower floor to find this puzzle piece underneath some glass. Artifact 2/2 “PS2 Memory Card” – Hold both triggers down fullying to puh yourself through the two purple spiderwebs to find this artifact on the other side.
When first arriving on Bot Beach off the slide, head right and look for the orange boat in the water with a bearded man and a small Bot in it. This references the 2018 God of War on PS4, also developed by SIE Santa Monica Studio. The composition of this easter egg is specifically mimicking the box art of the game. Once you encounter the first Shock Walls, make your way South-East into a pink area filled with spider webs you can thrust through.
Once inside, the game turns into a side-scrolling platformer, as Astro is able to launch itself to the left or right using a giant spring in its legs. The illusion is incredible, making me feel way more connected to the events on screen than I would without this tension. The fun is to explore locations, jump between platforms and perform simple puzzles. From time to time, we also find enemies that we can avoid or overpower with fast punches. Adding the PS5 Pro Artifact could be a good excuse for players to return to Astro’s Playroom. The game also has one of the easiest platinum trophies on PS5, so completing all levels can be quite rewarding as well.
The only unknown one is the one with the Ethernet port, which doesn’t match any PlayStation system. These icons were displayed on the back of PS1 game boxes to show what features the game supported. The icons on the monitor are, from left to right, Memory Card block requirement, Dual Analog support, Link Cable support, DualShock support, PlayStation Mouse support, Player count, and Multi-Tap support.

On the capsule itself, we included a small hint showing the image of a clock. Looking carefully around the level nearby, you will find a similar clock symbol carved into one of the trees up above. [edit] Memory Meadow guide is a bit wrong, no point getting the canister with a net in it at the start as you need your hands free to pull out the two cables to walk across first. If you’re having trouble getting those new messages to pop up, you might try waiting until you’ve completed the relatively short game’s main campaign. We had trouble getting the message to appear on a new save file but saw it immediately upon entering a completed one.
